Head of Project Controls

POSITION PURPOSE

Reporting directly to the Chief Operations and Projects Officer, the Head of Project Controls has global responsibility for the projects controls function for new deals, project execution and the MRV phase of projects.

Imperative’s commitment is to deliver ultra-high-quality projects and as such the Head of Project Controls will lead the development and oversight of industry leading project controls policies & procedures, tools & systems and recruitment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of Project Controls including planning, cost estimating, cost control and reporting.

To be successful in the role, the successful candidate will need to collaborate closely with multiple internal and external stakeholders and manage the entire project controls function. This includes working with the leadership team to:

  • Establish the company’s project controls policies and procedures;
  • Establish the company’s project controls digital controls tools and systems;
  • Lead the recruitment of project controls resources assigned to projects;
  • Participate in the oversight of global projects and work with the project teams to resolve project issues & leverage opportunities; and
  • Work closely with the Chief Operations and Projects Officer and the Chief Technology Officer to establish the carbon offset visualization packages for offset buyers;

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Capabilities and experience in the breadth of project controls including planning, cost estimating, cost control and reporting;
  • A passion for digital tools and data management;
  • Strong people leadership skills;
  • A willingness to regularly travel to projects sites in emerging markets;
  • Experience in successfully working with joint venture partners;
  • Sound written and verbal communications skills; and
  • A passion for the carbon industry and desire to contribute to resolving the climate emergency.

QUALIFICATIONS

The position requires a relevant degree.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE       

  • The position requires approximately 15 years’ experience in relevant roles.
  • Significant experience managing teams and serving in management roles in international organizations.

LANGUAGE

Fluency in spoken and written English is a requirement. Additional language skills relevant to target emerging markets would be an added advantage.
